هلوساتُ امرأةٍ عاشقة بقلم: محمود سعيد كعوش

تسألني عن أحوالي وعن ما آلت إليه أمور حياتي خلال غيابك الذي طالَّ وطال؟

تسألني وتُلِحُ في الأسئلةِ متذرعاً بالقلق والرغبة في الاطمئنان علي؟

تسألني وتريدني أن أُنصتَّ إليك بإصغاء واهتمام بالغين، وتريدني أن أجيب على أسئلتكَ بإسهابٍ ووضوح؟

لطالما أنصَتُّ لأسئلتكَ وتساؤلاتك المتلاحقة، ظني أني كنت خيرَ مستمعةٍ لكَ وخيرَ متفائلةٍ بوجودِكَ في حياتي ومستقبلي معك.

عجباً !! كلُ العجب !!

كيف تسألني وقد عرفت أني كنتُ تلكَ الحسناءَ اللاهثةَ وراءَ الموعدِ المستحيلِ، ظني أنَ المستحيلَ مَعَ الأحبةِ جائزٌ، وأنَ لا مكانَ للمستحيلِ أو المُحالِ معَ الحُبِ، وأنَ في الآتياتِ مجالاً، بل مجالاتٍ وافرةً ومتنوعة.

ياه، كم كنتُ ساذجةً، بل بلهاء !! ياهٍ وياه !!

هل علمتَّ يوما يا من دأبَ طيفُهُ على زيارتي، ويا من طرق أبوابَ حلمي أنني غالباً ما كنت أسير وسط الزحام وأنا أكاد لا أعرف نفسي ؟

وهل علِمْتَّ أن أشياء كثيرة كانت تراودني وتداعب أحلامي ويتردد صداها في مخيلتي وأنا أعيشُ بأوديةِ الفراغِ وحيدَةً ملتهبةَ الظنون ؟

وهل عرفتَّ كم من المراتِ فقدت بوصلتي وأنا أسعى لوصالِكَ، فتاهت زوارقي في عبثِ الشجون، واحترقت معاطري وجَفَّ عبيرُها بينَ المباخِرِ، وبدا الوصالُ بعيداً بعيداً بعيدا ؟

أشياء قد لا يجدي ذكرها مع أني غالباً ما أنتظرتها بكثير من الأناةِ والصبر والأمل، خاصة عندما كانت تضن علي بالمجيء.

كنت أظن أنها لن تأتي أبداً، أو ربما تأتي بعد أن يمضي الأوانُ ويفوتَ قطارُ الشوق.

بماذا تريدني أن اخبرك؟

هل تريدني أن أخبرك أنني كنت أهم الى سريري كي أوهم نفسي بالنعاس والرغبة في الرقاد الذي جافاني مذ عرفتك؟

أم أنك تريدني أن أخبرك أنني ما كنت أفعل ذلك إلا هروبا من الواقع المؤلم إلى عالم الافتراض، بل إلى عالم الخيالِ والوهم؟

هل تريدني أن أخبرك أنني غالباً ما كنت أغفو لأصحو على موعد مع الشوق؟

وهل أدركت يوماً مدى حبي لك؟

وهل وهل وهل، وألف هل وهل؟

نعم كنتُ تلكَ الحسناءَ الساذجةَ، بل البلهاءَ، اللاهثةَ وراءَ الموعدِ المستحيلِ، ولكني كنت أدركُ أن اليومَ المعهودَ لمْ يأتِ ليأتي معه الموعدُ المعهود، بل كنت أدركُ تماماً أنهما لن يأتيا أبداً!!

وكنتُ على الدوامِ أرسمُ من خيوطِ الوهمِ آمالاً عريضة، وأضربُ معَ الآهاتِ لنفسي مواعيدَ بعيدة، وأتصنعُ الابتسامةَ والفرحَ، بينما كانت جعبتي ملآى بكمٍ هائلٍ من الآلامِ والأوجاعِ التي لطالما أخفيتها عنكَ وعن الجميعِ عن قصدٍ وسابقِ إصرارٍ وترصدٍ، حرصاً على أنوثتي وحفاظاً على كرامتي، وحتى لا أخسركَ، علماً أنني لم أكسبك يوماً.

وكنت على الدوامِ أنسى أو أتناسى أنَ أجمل ما في حديث الحب بالنسبة للرجلِ الشرقي هو أن تُشْعِرَهُ المرأةُ من وقتٍ لآخر بذكوريتهِ، أو تُذَّكِرهُ بها، لذا كنتُ أبدو كمن تتقن فن العشق في العالمِ الافتراضي، أو في زمن اللامعقول.

ولهذا أصبحت أنظر إلى من يغادرون عالم قلبي من الرجالِ بلا مبالاة، ودون أن أكلف نفسي عناء البحث عنهم، ولا حتى مجرد السؤال عن الجهات والبلدان التي قصدوها.

وهكذا بِتُّ بطلة روايات الحب والرومانسية تلك، التي يُذكر فيها اسم الحبيب أمامها مرات عديدة ويبيت قلبها في انتظاره على مقعدٍ شاغر وسط حديقة وهمية، وهي تقسم مراراً وتكراراً أنها كانت عمياءَ القلبِ والوجدانِ، وأنها واصلت مسيرتها في طريقٍ رسَمَّتْ على جنباتِهِ أسماءَ مُستعارة !!

Hallucinations of a Woman in Love by Mahmoud Said Kawash

You ask me about my well-being and how my life has unfolded during your long, drawn-out absence?

You ask me, persisting with your questions, feigning concern and a desire to check on me?

You ask me, expecting me to listen attentively and with utmost interest, and you expect me to answer your questions at length and with clarity?

I have always listened to your questions and your barrage of inquiries, believing myself to be the best listener and the most optimistic about your presence in my life and my future with you.

How strange! How utterly astonishing! How can you ask me, when you know I was that beautiful woman, panting after an impossible rendezvous? I believed that the impossible was permissible with lovers, that there was no place for the impossible or the unattainable in love, and that the future held ample, indeed abundant and varied, possibilities.

Oh, how naive, how foolish I was! Oh, how!

Did you ever know, you whose image constantly visited me, you who knocked on the doors of my dreams, that I often walked amidst the crowds, barely recognizing myself?

And did you know that many things haunted me, stirred my dreams, and echoed in my imagination as I lived alone in the valleys of emptiness, consumed by burning doubts? And do you know how many times I lost my way in my pursuit of you, my boats adrift in the whims of longing, my perfumes burning and their fragrance fading among the incense burners, and union seeming so far, so far away?

Things that may be pointless to mention, though I often waited for them with so much patience, hope, and longing, especially when they were so reluctant to come.

I thought they would never come, or perhaps they would come too late, after the train of longing had left the station.

What do you want me to tell you?

Do you want me to tell you that I would rush to my bed to convince myself of sleepiness and the desire for rest that has eluded me since I met you?

Or do you want me to tell you that I did so only to escape the painful reality into a world of illusion, or rather, into a world of fantasy and delusion?

Do you want me to tell you that I often fell asleep only to wake up to a rendezvous with longing?

And have you ever grasped the depth of my love for you? And what if, and what if, and what if, and a thousand times what if?

Yes, I was that naive, even foolish, beauty, panting after the impossible rendezvous. But I knew that the promised day would not come, and with it, the promised rendezvous. In fact, I knew perfectly well that they would never come at all!

And I was always weaving grand hopes from threads of illusion, setting distant promises to myself amidst sighs, feigning smiles and joy, while my heart overflowed with a vast amount of pain and suffering that I deliberately and premeditatedly hid from you and everyone else, out of concern for my femininity and to preserve my dignity, so as not to lose you, even though I never truly won you.

And I always forgot, or pretended to forget, that the most beautiful thing about love talk for an Eastern man is for a woman to occasionally remind him of his masculinity, or to remind him of it. So I came to seem like someone who mastered the art of love in a virtual world, or in an age of absurdity.

And so I began to look at men who left the world of my heart with indifference, without bothering to search for them, or even to ask about the places and countries they went to.

And so I became the heroine of those love and romance novels, where the lover's name is mentioned in her presence many times, and her heart waits for him on an empty bench in the middle of an imaginary garden, while she swears repeatedly that she was blind of heart and conscience, and that she continued on a path whose sides she had inscribed with borrowed names!
